Sweet and Short

Sweet first! This shuttle was a gift I received some time ago from my close friend, Zena Herbert. Zena is such a multitalented woman and her shop (The Sea of Dreams) in Moracambie, Uk would be #1 on my destination list if I could travel to England. I'd love to be a fly on the wall just to see the parade of 'interesting' people who pass through her shop. The shuttle has lovely pansy art work and on the obverse side, my initials. It is light in weight and a fun shuttle with which to tat! It is very special to have a shuttle made by a friend. A piece of her heart, so to speak.

Satiated by candy from Valentine's, today's entry is "Sweet and short". I've been engrossed in the Olympics. My two main sports being (don't laugh) Curling and Snow Boarding events! I like curling because it is a cross between playing chess and shooting pool! A lot of hand and eye coordination along with mental acuity (think at least two plays ahead). Of course Snow Boarding and the Flying Tomato are synonymous. He is becoming the 'old man' of the pipe; but, he is still so much fun to watch. Tonight is Ash Wednesday services, but the Tomato flies after we get home from services.

Sliding through the blogs today, I noticed a good tip on Jon's blog. (http://tatsaway.blogspot.com/) How to load 2 shuttles CTM (continuous thread method). This is a handy tip for new tatters as when one first hears CTM, the next question is, "how do I do that?" One hint: in addition to Jon's tip. Be sure to wind slowly on the second shuttle or it slides off the post shuttle and you have a knotted mess. The voice of experience~ I've gotten really good at untangling all kinds of knots ~ knots in jewelry chains for instance. Tatting gives one hidden talents~

I have two shuttles flying to Silver, I'm so excited to see them ~ can hardly wait! I'll share about those after they've arrived and I've tatted a bit with them. I'm still stuck on the viola, but haven't tackled that problem since last week ~ so it's my own fault. I've decided to do it in left over thread, for practice and that way I'll not waste any precious HDT~

Lovely shuttle! I also love to watch snowboarding and curling! Haven't had a chance to see much of the Olympics, though... maybe tonight.

Agree with you about that gorgeous shuttle, but curling? I have NEVER understood the rocky allure of that particular sport! To each her own!
We DO agree on snowboarding!

Such a pretty shuttle! And add me to the list of curling fans...it's just so unusual.

I never seem to catch Olympic snowboarding, so I can't claim to be a fan. So many of the Winter sports are fascinating to watch.

That shuttle is so very pretty and very special! My grandmother who tatted loved pansies. I didn't learn to tat from her, but from my Mother (her daughter).
